Odeon UK is one of the biggest movie theatre chains in the United Kingdom. The company operates over 370 cinemas, making it one of the largest cinema chains in Europe. It also operates Odeon Cinemas Ireland, which has 80 cinemas. In December 2017, Odeon announced that it would be selling its Australian operations to Cineplex for A$360 million.

The first Odeon cinema opened on Leicester Square in London on 12 December 1932. It was founded by Herbert Wilcox and operated as a single-screen theatre. The company went public in 1933 and by 1945 had seventy cinemas across the UK.

In 1954, Odeon merged with the ABC Cinemas group, which gave it a presence in Scotland and Northern Ireland.

In 1967, Odeon purchased Associated British Picture Corporation (ABPC), which gave it a presence in Wales and the Channel Islands. In 1984, Odeon acquired Metro Theatres, giving it ownership of all the theatres owned by Metro plc outside London.

In 1994, Odeon acquired General Cinema Group (GCG), which gave it ownership of all the cinemas owned by Liberty Media outside of London. This included cinemas in Birmingham, Glasgow, Liverpool and Manchester.

In 1996, Odeon bought 20 per cent of EMI Cinema Holdings for £130 million; this gave them control of about 250 cinemas across the UK and Ireland. In 1998, they acquired Empire Films for £225 million
